Carlos Alcaraz has received the green light he was waiting for: Dr. Angel Ruiz-Cotorro, after the latest check-up, confirmed that his right wrist has fully healed. The Spaniard is now targeting the Cincinnati Masters 1000, whose main draw begins on August 13 and closes on the 23rd, as his comeback tournament after around four months away from the courts.

After consulting with his team and the medical staff, the Murcian decided to give himself a few extra days, skipping the Canadian Masters 1000 in order to arrive at Cincinnati with greater guarantees. Before the actual return, a final meeting with Ruiz-Cotorro is scheduled for the definitive go-ahead.

What stands out is the caution with which the entire path has been managed. For a player who built his image on aggressiveness and the urge to return quickly, accepting four months of waiting also speaks of a new maturity. Cincinnati, after all, is the last major test before a US Open that Alcaraz will arrive to defend without the certainty of match rhythm, but with a finally healthy wrist.
