Cincinnati: Cobolli and Musetti Reach the Quarterfinals

The last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 wiped out the draw's top five seeds. Tommy Paul eliminated Alexander Zverev, the top seed, 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-4. Frances Tiafoe beat Félix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-4, and Arthur Fils got past Alex de Minaur 6-3, 6-4. Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev had already gone out in earlier rounds.
Taylor Fritz, the sixth seed and world number 9, is the highest-ranked player left in the draw.
In the quarterfinals, Paul faces Flavio Cobolli, who came back to beat Rafael Jódar 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.
Fritz meets Brandon Nakashima, the American who had eliminated Medvedev in the third round and then got past Nuno Borges 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-3: Fritz leads their head-to-head 4-1, with his last win coming in the Washington semifinal this year.
Lorenzo Musetti, who dispatched qualifier Jaime Faria 7-5, 6-2, takes on Tiafoe, who picked up his fourth win of the season over a top 10 player.
Thiago Agustín Tirante, ranked 50th, beat Djokovic in the second round 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, with the Serb forced into a medical timeout after vomiting during a changeover. The Argentine then eliminated Martín Landaluce and Jakub Menšík, the latter 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. It's his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal, and he will face Fils, making his fifth quarterfinal appearance at a 1000-level event this season.
