Draper Ends Season Early, Set to Return in 2027

Jack Draper has ended his 2026 season early. On September 15, the Briton announced on Instagram that he won't return to the court before the start of 2027, sidelined by the left arm problem he's carried since the summer of 2025.

"Tennis is my passion, and that's why, when I come back, I want to be certain nothing will stop me from reaching my goals,"

he wrote.

The year ends with eight tournaments played and none of the four Slams. His last match was on August 13, a first-round loss at Cincinnati to Martin Landaluce, 6-3, 7-5, after leading 5-2 in the second set, with twelve double faults. From there came the US Open withdrawal, then the definitive stop. Draper had reached No. 4 in the world on June 9, 2025, three months after his Indian Wells title; today he's outside the top 100.

In May he had tried to change something by bringing in Andy Murray for the grass-court season, after splitting with Jamie Delgado. He reached the semifinal at Eastbourne, then withdrew from Wimbledon.

In the message, Draper also talks about fatigue. Handling so many changes, setbacks and pain made him grow, he says, but it also wore him down. He's twenty-four, with time to rebuild a ranking, and the choice to skip the rest of the calendar rather than return at half measure shows how little he's willing to risk another setback.
