Sabalenka Picks Sinner: "I Prefer Jannik, He Has a Similar Style to Mine"

Aryna Sabalenka has revealed who she prefers between the two men dominating tennis: "Naturally I prefer Jannik, because we have a similar playing style." The WTA world number one said so in an interview with the YouTube channel First&Red, explaining that she sees herself in the game of Jannik Sinner more than in that of Carlos Alcaraz.

The reason is technical. "I think we both have a good forehand, a good backhand and a good serve, and we play aggressive tennis," added the Belarusian, drawing a parallel between her own tennis and that of the South Tyrolean. A preference stated without taking anything away from her rival.

On Alcaraz, in fact, Sabalenka had words of genuine admiration: she likes the way the Spaniard moves, how he reads the court and how he never gives up on a single ball. She also mentioned his willingness to change, recalling that he reworked his serve even though he was already at the top of the ranking.

There is no shortage of emotion either. Sabalenka recalled the 2025 Roland Garros final, when Alcaraz came back to beat Sinner after saving three match points, and confessed that at Wimbledon, just a few weeks later, she was rooting for the Italian: "I felt really sorry for him after Paris." In London, that time, it was Sinner who had the final word.
