Team Europe Champions: Zverev Closes Out the Laver Cup 13-5

Alexander Zverev beat Learner Tien 7-6(3), 6-3 at the O2 in London to hand Team Europe the 2026 Laver Cup, sealed 13-5. The German took the court with the score at 10-5: the three points on offer were enough for the title.

The margin was built on Friday, when every match was worth one point and Europe closed the day at 3-1. Casper Ruud came past Francisco Cerúndolo 6-7(4), 6-4, 10-8, Rafael Jódar dispatched Alexander Bublik 6-2, 6-3, and the doubles pair Carlos Alcaraz-Jakub Menšík beat Bublik and Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4. The only point for the World team came from Brandon Nakashima, 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 over Menšík.

On Saturday, with matches worth two points, Team World edged ahead 5-3. Tien beat Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 2-6, 10-7, and Alex de Minaur came back from a set down to beat Zverev 2-6, 7-6(5), 11-9, saving a match point at 9-8 in the decisive tiebreak after the German had already served for the match at 5-4 in the second set. Alcaraz leveled the day by beating Taylor Fritz 6-3, 4-6, 13-11, before Ruud and Zverev won the doubles over Bublik and Nakashima to close the day at 7-5.

On Sunday every match was worth three points, and Team Europe took them all. Cobolli and Menšík beat de Minaur and Fritz 7-5, 6-3 in the opening doubles, putting Yannick Noah's team one win from the title. Then Zverev, twenty-four hours after losing a match he'd had in hand, took the first set in a tiebreak and controlled the second.

It's Europe's sixth Laver Cup in nine editions, the first since Andre Agassi's Team World won 15-9 in San Francisco in 2025.
