Camila Giorgi Becomes a Mother: Son Magnus Born, Comeback Set for 2027

Camila Giorgi has become a mother for the first time: Magnus Vangelis Pasutti was born on Saturday, September 19, 2026, as the player from Macerata announced the following day in an Instagram story. The father is Andreas Ignacio Pasutti, a former Argentine player and coach, whom Giorgi married on February 26 in Buenos Aires.

The pregnancy became public just days before the wedding, and the couple has kept a low profile ever since. The two names split the difference: the father chose Magnus, the mother chose Vangelis.

Giorgi hasn't played an official match since March 23, 2024, when she lost in straight sets to Iga Swiatek in the second round in Miami. She never announced her retirement; it surfaced in May of that year, when her name appeared on the ITIA's list of retired players. Over her career she won four WTA titles, from Rosmalen in 2015 to Mérida in 2023, including the WTA 1000 in Montreal in 2021, and reached a career-high ranking of world No. 26 on October 22, 2018. Her best Grand Slam result remains a quarterfinal at Wimbledon in 2018.

A return pencilled in for 2027 would bring her back to the court after roughly three years away, at age 35. Throughout her pregnancy Giorgi kept posting training videos, racket in hand, which makes the announcement more than just a formality.
