WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY:

🇮🇹 Sinner Meets Djokovic Again And Takes His Revenge

Sinner set things straight with Djokovic, 6-4 6-4 6-4 in a little over two hours, and on Sunday he'll defend his title. Sixteen aces, just one break point conceded in the whole match, 88% of points won behind the first serve: numbers that tell of a day in which the serve acted as a shield for everything else. More than the win itself, what strikes you is the way it came just a few months after the Australian semifinal lost to Djokovic himself, as if that defeat had served as a reminder rather than a wound. Against Zverev, tomorrow, he'll face the only man who this season seems to move at his same speed, and it's perhaps there that the tournament will find its real question.

🇩🇪 Zverev Ends Fery's Fairytale

Arthur Fery's run stopped in the semifinal, with Zverev getting past the British wild card 7-6 6-2 6-4 without granting the home crowd the third act it had hoped for. The first set, decided in a tie-break, kept the illusion alive for a good hour, then the German took his measure and let his superiority flow. Zverev arrives at this final as Roland Garros champion, with the Slam he'd chased for years finally on the shelf, and the feeling is that the confidence from Paris is following him onto the grass too. For Fery there remain two weeks he'll talk about for a long time, the kind that happen to a home wild card once and are meant to be lived to the fullest.

WHAT'S HAPPENING TODAY:

• Muchová vs Nosková — women's final (not before 17:00 Italian time, Centre Court) - For the first time a Slam awards the women's title between two Czech players, and the fact that they're also doubles partners at the Olympics adds a layer to an already unusual day. Muchová gets there at 29, the oldest player reaching a first Wimbledon final since 1998, after ten straight wins and a match point saved in the decisive tie-break against Gauff. Nosková, 21, plays the first Major final of her career, and the only previous meeting between the two, won by Muchová in a comeback at the US Open, says little about what might happen today.
• Men's doubles final (Centre Court) - It opens the schedule on the main court and serves as a warm-up to the Czech derby, with the timing of the women's singles tied to how long it lasts.
