The Paris Masters 1000, scheduled for November 2 to 8, loses both of last year's finalists. Jannik Sinner, the defending champion, ended his season on October 6 to treat his knee. On October 27 Félix Auger-Aliassime, who lost the 2025 final to Sinner 6-4, 7-6(4), withdrew as well.

The Canadian hurt his left knee in Shanghai, where he retired in the round of 16, and has missed Brussels and Basel since. He is currently world No. 7, but without the 650 points from his 2025 final he will drop out of the top 10. He had already pulled out of the ATP Finals in Turin. João Fonseca, 20, will also be absent. On October 17 he announced the end of his season because of an abdominal problem, which also meant giving up the defense of his Basel title.

With Sinner out, the top seed is Alexander Zverev, the 2024 Paris champion. The German is No. 2 in the October 26 rankings with 9,750 points, 700 behind Sinner, but he has already clinched the year-end No. 1 spot for 2026. Behind him are Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton and Daniil Medvedev.

Flavio Cobolli, ranked sixth, will be the No. 5 seed. In the 56-player draw the top eight seeds go straight into the second round, so the Roman will start with a bye. Zverev and Cobolli have already met in Paris this year, in the Roland Garros final, which the German won in five sets.
