🇺🇦 Kostyuk halts Swiatek's run

Marta Kostyuk eliminated Iga Swiatek 7-5 6-1 in an hour and forty minutes, handing the Pole her earliest exit in Paris since 2019. It was the first set Kostyuk had ever taken off Swiatek in her career, after three defeats without even coming close. More than the upset itself, what lingers is how it happened: the Ukrainian arrived at this match on a sixteen-match clay-court winning streak this season, and when the level holds for that long it eventually stops looking like a one-off. Swiatek spoke of tension and a body that wouldn't respond, a reading that, in the fourth round of a Slam she had dominated for years, weighs more than any scoreline.

🇧🇷 Fonseca takes down Ruud and his first Slam quarterfinal

João Fonseca beat Casper Ruud 7-5 7-6(6) 5-7 6-2 in the Chatrier night session, reaching the quarterfinals at a Major for the first time at nineteen, two days after eliminating Djokovic. He is the first Brazilian since Kuerten to get this far at Roland Garros. Against a two-time finalist at this tournament, what stands out isn't the talent, which was already known, but his handling of the big moments: losing the third set didn't unplug him, and in the fourth he started over as if the match had only just begun. In the quarters he'll meet Mensik, a matchup that a week ago no one would have placed on this side of the draw.

🇨🇿 Mensik Holds Off Rublev In Five Sets

Jakub Mensik got past Andrey Rublev 6-3 7-6(6) 4-6 2-6 6-3, recovering a match that after three sets had seemed to slip out of his hands. The Czech, after losing the third and fourth sets, restored order in the fifth against one of the heaviest hitters on tour. Matches like this, decided more by resilience than by shot-making, usually say something about the stage of maturity a young player has reached. For Mensik it's a first Slam quarterfinal, and it comes in the very round that will put him across from Fonseca.

🇩🇪 Zverev And Jodar Advance, The Top Quarter Is Set

Alexander Zverev, the number two seed, dispatched Jesper De Jong 7-6(3) 6-4 6-1, while nineteen-year-old Spaniard Rafael Jodar came back from two sets down to beat Pablo Carreño Busta 4-6 4-6 6-1 6-2 6-2. The two will meet in the quarterfinals, in a part of the draw that the exits of Sinner and Djokovic have left without its usual landmarks. For Zverev it's the chance he had been waiting for, for Jodar it's already a tournament beyond all expectations, and the matchup between them says a lot about how much the horizon has changed in this corner of the bracket.

🇺🇦 Svitolina, Andreeva And Cirstea Complete The Round Of 16

Elina Svitolina beat Belinda Bencic 4-6 6-4 6-0, Mirra Andreeva got past Jil Teichmann 6-3 6-2 and Sorana Cirstea eliminated Wang Xiyu 6-3 7-6(4). Svitolina meets Kostyuk in the quarters, in a Ukrainian derby that the win over Swiatek has loaded with a different kind of weight. Andreeva, the eighth seed, reaches her third straight quarterfinal in Paris at a pace that is starting to look like the norm rather than the exception, while Cirstea's run lengthens the list of unexpected names left in a women's draw now far from its predictions.

WHAT'S HAPPENING TODAY:

• 🇮🇹 Cobolli - Svajda (ATP, fourth round) - Opens the Chatrier at 11:00. Cobolli is the only man to have reached this stage without dropping a set and is chasing his second Slam quarterfinal after Wimbledon, against the American Svajda, fresh off a surprise five-set win over Francisco Cerundolo.
• 🇮🇹 Berrettini - J.M. Cerundolo (ATP, fourth round) - Two players coming off marathons of over five hours in the previous round: Berrettini closed it out 15-13 in the super tie-break against Comesaña, Juan Manuel Cerundolo played the third-longest match in the tournament's history. Hard to predict how much fuel is left.
• 🇨🇦 Auger-Aliassime - Tabilo (ATP, fourth round) - Not before 15:30 on the Chatrier. The number four has spent thirteen of the fifteen available sets to get here, and against Chilean Tabilo he's trying to get past a fourth round he has never cleared in Paris.
• 🇺🇸 Tiafoe - Arnaldi (ATP, fourth round) - The American against the Italian, the third Italian on court on the same day. For Arnaldi, after the five sets of the previous round, it's the chance to turn an already remarkable week into something more.
• 🇧🇾 Sabalenka - Osaka (WTA, fourth round, night session) - Not before 20:15 on the Chatrier, the marquee match: the number one, still without a set lost and with a 30-3 record in 2026, against Osaka in her first second week in Paris. Sabalenka leads the head-to-head 2-1.
• 🇺🇸 Keys - Shnaider (WTA, fourth round) - On the Lenglen, the 2025 Australian Open champion against the Russian, who has yet to drop a set. Keys leads 3-0 in the head-to-head, but she got here from a third-set tie-break against Mboko.
• 🇷🇺 Kalinskaya - Potapova (WTA, fourth round) - On the Lenglen, a Russian derby between two players who have already upended a few pecking orders: Potapova comes in off eliminating Gauff, and this round puts a Slam quarterfinal on the line for both.
