Sinner Into the Montecarlo Final: Zverev Beaten 6-1, 6-4

Jannik Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4 in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters semifinal, booking his first final on the clay of the Principality.

The thirteenth meeting between the two ended like the last eight: with the South Tyrolean on top. Sinner extends his head-to-head lead to 9-4 and improves to 23-2 in 2026, confirming his unbeaten start to the clay season. On clay, the head-to-head moves from 1-1 to 2-1 in favor of the Italian, who had already beaten the German on the crushed brick in the fourth round of Roland Garros 2020.

The first set lasted just long enough to get a read on the court. Immediate break, not a single break point conceded, Zverev sent back to the bench after barely half an hour. In the second set, the German tried to get back into the match by finally finding depth with his forehand, but the only break came once again on Sinner's side, and he closed out the finish without giving up a chance.

In Sunday's final, Sinner will face the winner between Carlos Alcaraz and Valentin Vacherot. It would be his first final in Montecarlo and his second Masters 1000 championship match on clay after Rome 2025, where he lost to Alcaraz. A Masters 1000 title on clay remains the missing piece in an already imposing trophy cabinet.
