Sinner's Milan Checkup: No Concern Over the Knee

Jannik Sinner spent four hours at the Physioclinic on Via Fontana in Milan on Tuesday, August 4. From eight until noon, accompanied by four members of his staff, he underwent a series of orthopedic exams overseen by Dr. Piero Volpi. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the knee is not a concern, and the checkup had already been scheduled ahead of his departure for the United States.

It was the second medical appointment in quick succession, after one at J Medical in Turin. There, Sinner had been photographed with a bandage on his right knee, a detail that fueled questions about his condition at a time when the world No. 1 hasn't played in weeks. His last official match remains the Wimbledon final on July 12, won against Alexander Zverev 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4. Then came the withdrawal from the Montreal Masters 1000, a decision driven by physical management ahead of the US Open.

The departure for the United States is set for Sunday, August 9. In Cincinnati, the main draw begins Thursday, August 13 and wraps up Sunday, August 23: it will mark Sinner's return to the court and is the only Masters 1000 before Flushing Meadows.

Four hours is a lot for what was called a routine checkup, but it fits the way Sinner's team has managed the entire season, with scheduled check-ins between tournaments and the Milan exams requested directly by his staff. Leaving the clinic, the tennis player stopped for photos and autographs with fans.
