🇮🇹 Sinner Surgical, Zverev With No Answers

Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and twenty-two minutes, reaching his first career final in Monte Carlo. It is his twenty-first consecutive win at Masters 1000 events and he is the first player since Djokovic in 2015 to reach the finals of Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo in the same season.

The match lasted about as long as a long coffee: Sinner jumped out to an immediate 4-0 lead and didn't concede a single break point in the entire match. More than the statistics, what stands out is the impression left on court, as if the German had shown up to yet another chapter of a series he now knows by heart, already knowing how it would end. Zverev has lost the last eight head-to-heads, the last four all in Masters 1000 semifinals, and the feeling is that the problem is by now more mental than tactical.

🇪🇸 Alcaraz Snuffs Out Vacherot's Dream

Carlos Alcaraz beat Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-4, joining Sinner in the final. The Spaniard controlled the key moments of both sets with the confidence of the defending champion, facing a Monegasque who had arrived at the semifinal carrying the sweet weight of an entire week of wonder.

Vacherot walked onto the court with the same energy that had brought him this far, immediately trying to respond with a counter-break in the fourth game, but Alcaraz raised his level at the decisive moments and managed the ends of sets with a clarity that the Monegasque - playing his second Masters 1000 semifinal after his Shanghai 2025 title - lacked precisely when it mattered most. What remains is Vacherot's run: a year ago he was beyond the 250th position in the rankings, and on Monday he will be number 17, a new career-high: a shift in scale that no defeat can diminish.

🏆 Sinner-Alcaraz, The Final Everyone Was Waiting For

On Sunday at 15:00, final number 9 between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will be played, their ninth in a final. The two arrive level on 26 ATP titles each, and the world number one spot is also at stake, with whoever wins set to become world number one on Monday. It's their first meeting of the 2026 season and, curiously, their first ever in Monte Carlo.

The most interesting fact isn't so much the overall balance as where this match sits in the calendar: a Masters 1000 on clay, on the surface that over the last two years has been the most fertile ground for Alcaraz and the one on which Sinner is still completing his evolution. Matches like this, at this point in the season, tend to tell a story that goes beyond the result: some indications about the body, some signals about the head, some details about the tennis to come between here, Rome and Paris.
