WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY:
🇨🇿 Muchová Saves A Match Point Against Gauff
Karolina Muchová beat Coco Gauff 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(10), closing out the decisive super tie-break 12-10 after saving a match point at 9-8 for the American. In a match that changed hands several times, the final points ended up rewarding the player who had the courage to stay aggressive when the margin had shrunk to nothing. For Muchová it is the second Slam final of her career and the first at Wimbledon, reached in the most tortuous way imaginable, against an opponent who has learned to suffer and endure on grass. Certain wins built on the edge of a single point often tell more of a story than the run that led to them.
🇨🇿 Nosková Completes The All-Czech Final
Linda Nosková got past Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-4, leaning on a serve that gave up very little and on a single break managed with composure in each set. At 21 she reaches the first Slam final of her career, and she does so by completing a picture no one would have put on paper at the start of the tournament: an all-Czech final, the first ever at a Slam. More than the scoreline, what strikes you is the ease with which she kept at bay stakes that could have tightened her up. On Saturday, on the other side of the net, there will be a compatriot with a different wealth of experience, and it will be interesting to see how much that ends up weighing.

- Zverev vs Fery (Centre Court, first semifinal of the day) - the home wild card, only the second wild card ever to reach a Wimbledon semifinal in the Open era after Croatia's Ivanišević in 2001, tries to extend a run that has already exceeded every expectation; across the net he finds a Zverev who knows Slam semifinals well and starts as the favourite
- Sinner vs Djokovic (Centre Court, to follow, estimated start from ~17:30) - a rematch of last year's semifinal, won by Sinner in three sets; the Italian comes off a comfortable quarterfinal against Struff, Djokovic off a five-hour battle against Auger-Aliassime. In the head-to-head Sinner leads 6-5, but the most recent meeting, in Australia in January, went to the Serb: a detail enough to strip away any certainty on the eve
