WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY:

🇮🇹 Sinner Into The Final, His First In The Desert

Jannik Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev 6-2, 6-4 in 83 minutes, reaching his first career final at Indian Wells. It was his sixth consecutive win over the German, with 83% of first serve points won and an ace at 222 km/h on match point. Sinner becomes the first Italian in history to play a singles final at the BNP Paribas Open and completes the set of finals across all six hardcourt Masters 1000 events.

More than the result itself, what stands out is how Sinner stripped Zverev of his certainties from the very first rallies, varying his return position and denying the German any comfort on serve. The unease quickly spread to Zverev's baseline game, and the double break in the first set sealed the match before it had truly begun. Matches like these, won with this kind of tactical clarity, tell a story that goes beyond the draw.

🇷🇺 Medvedev Ends Alcaraz's Perfect Run

Daniil Medvedev defeated Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 7-6(3) in the second semi-final, ending the world number one's 16-match winning streak and perfect start to the season. Medvedev finished with 10 aces and just one double fault, conceding only one break in the entire match, which he recovered immediately. In the second-set tiebreak, after saving two set points at 4-5, the Russian built a 6-1 lead with six consecutive points, closing it out 7-3.

The feeling is that Medvedev played a different match from the ones we're used to seeing, with constant aggression and a willingness to take the ball early that surprised even Alcaraz himself. The Spaniard openly acknowledged it after the match: "I've never seen Daniil play like this, the way he attacked throughout the match surprised me a lot." For Medvedev, this is his third final in the desert, and the sense of a player rediscovered is hard to ignore, especially heading into tonight's showdown.

WHAT'S HAPPENING TODAY:

• Sinner vs Medvedev (ATP Final, Stadium 1, not before 2:00 PM local / 10:00 PM CET) - The sixteenth chapter of a rivalry that Sinner leads 8-7, having won eight of the last nine. For Sinner, it's the chance to complete the hardcourt Masters 1000 collection, a milestone reached only by Federer and Djokovic.
