Carlos Alcaraz won the Erste Bank Open in Vienna for the first time, beating Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in the final on Sunday, November 1. The Spaniard, who entered the draw with a wild card and as the second seed, claimed his 28th career title and his fourth of 2026 after the Australian Open, Doha and Tokyo.

The first set lasted 37 minutes. Alcaraz raced to a 4-0 lead and converted three of the four break points he created, while de Minaur won only 13 of 27 first-serve points. De Minaur held out longer in the second set. At 5-4, Alcaraz closed on his first match point with a drop shot, a lob and a forehand winner.

The Spaniard did not drop a set all week. Before the final he had beaten Karen Khachanov, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Tommy Paul and, in the semifinal, Daniil Medvedev. He had played Vienna only once before, in 2021, and lost in the semifinal to Alexander Zverev.

For de Minaur it is a seventh loss in seven meetings with Alcaraz and his third in a final, after Queen's 2023 and Rotterdam 2025. The Australian came in on ten straight indoor wins this season and had knocked out Zverev, the incoming world No. 1 from Monday, in the semifinal.
